I have a student who’s really into playing games on his phone. He’s so excited about gaming that he spends day and night glued to his screen, just to get better at gaming. His one big dream? He wants to become a professional gamer.

Unfortunately, he participates less in school activities. In class, he’s mostly quiet, sleepy, and sometimes even falls asleep. When asked, he says his only goal in life is to make a lot of money from playing games. The teachers have tried to convince him that he can do both, play games and study at the same time.

He’s always said that he doesn’t want to go to a regular school. He only wants to go to a school for gamers. Unfortunately, there’s no such school in Jogja. I’m not sure if there’s a school like that in Indonesia.

I’m happy he’s already set his sights on a clear goal at such a young age. However, he could use some guidance to help him achieve that big dream, and the people around him don’t really understand his goals. I also know that his family will likely underestimate his ambitions, seeing them as just hobbies. Parents tend to believe that real dreams are shaped in school, not in front of a phone screen.

He’s not very receptive to advice. He’s been told on several occasions to stay involved in school activities, and his classmates have also approached him on numerous occasions with suggestions. None of it has had the desired effect. He misses about two days of school a week on average, and even when he’s there, he’s not engaged. During free periods, he sometimes asks to leave early, citing illness as the reason.

I hope that he will quickly meet with a solution. what’s more, his dreams cannot be stopped. in the future I also hope that he can become a professional gamer.
